We followed Mustafa through the final weeks of his campaign for the Left in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. What matters to young people in Saxony-Anhalt? In this video, Mustafa, who was born in Germany, also explains about his own roots from outside the country, via his Moroccan-born mother, and talks about the issue of migration in the election.

When we first meet Mustafa, there are only a few weeks left until the state election in Saxony-Anhalt. He is a candidate for The Left (Die Linke), which, alongside the AfD, is one of the most popular parties among young people in Germany. For weeks, the entire country was talking about the election because it might be the first time, that the far-right AfD wins a regional state election. We followed Mustafa through the final weeks of his campaign: on the streets, in conversations with voters, and within his own party. Not because one candidate can speak for an entire generation, but because his campaign offers a glimpse right into the heart of what is happening. What matters to young people in Saxony-Anhalt? What can this election result tell us when we've witnessed the weeks leading up to it? And will Mustafa succeed in winning a seat in the state parliament?
