Humanity One, the NGO ship operated by the rescue charity SOS Humanity, entered the port of Marina di Carrara on the morning of September 30, with 29 migrants on board, of which 13 were unaccompanied minors.
The Humanity One vessel entered the port of Marina di Carrara (Massa Carrara) on September 30, slightly before 10am, with 29 migrants on board who were rescued in the southern Mediterranean.
This marks the 20th ship arrival since 2023, the sixth this year, and one of the smallest disembarkations in terms of the number of people on board.
Operations for the disembarkation and offering shelter were coordinated by the Prefecture in Massa Carrara. Also at the dock, were the volunteers, medical support staff, and the security authorities, in addition to the Port Authority staff and the Harbor Master's Office.
The migrants received a first round of health checks on board, and then they were accompanied by bus to a series of pavilions for the identification procedures and further medical check-ups.
After having been given food, the migrants left for the indicated shelter facilities.

Carrara 'pleased' to welcome humanitarian ships
"We confirm our status as a port that welcomes [migrants], and we are pleased to receive these ships instead of ships bringing war. We will always welcome these ships," said the Mayor of Carrara, Serena Arrighi, present at the port for the arrival of the humanitarian ship.
The migrants who arrived, explained the Deputy Prefect, Andrea Leo, will all stay in the region of Tuscany.
This, he underscored, means 16 adults and 13 unaccompanied minors: "They all come from Egypt and they are all males. Their health conditions are good and they should all remain in Tuscany."
The first arrival in Marina di Carrara, recalled a spokesperson from the municipality took place on January 30, 2023, when the ship Ocean Viking operated by the NGO SOS Méditerranée arrived with 95 persons on board.
