Croatia's president Zoran Milanovic emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring to ensure that immigrants integrate.
President Zoran Milanović stated on Wednesday (August 14) that immigration is currently the most pressing challenge facing Croatia. He emphasized the importance of continuous monitoring to ensure that immigrants integrate culturally, learn the language, and embrace local customs.
A new reality for Croatia
"Immigration and the arrival of foreigners is a reality and the most significant challenge Croatia has ever faced," Milanović remarked during a special session of the Jelsa Municipal Council on Hvar island on August 15, quoted by the news agency Hina.
The session was held in honor of the municipality's day and the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, its patron saint. Milanović also touched on global issues, noting, "Wars, Russia, Ukraine, crimes in Gaza, murders, war crimes... these are events we witness, but we can navigate through them if we remain smart and focused on our own responsibilities."
