This occurred in the wake of when the neighbourhood's residents clashed with the centre's migrants, injuring a man from Eritrea. Debora Diodati, president of the Red Cross in Rome, said the message of the Eritrean dinner is "everyone together for a peaceful community, in a neighbourhood that we love!" The organisation said it wants to repeat the initiative in the future, opening it to all of the neighbourhood's residents. At the same time as the dinner, some militants from the extreme-right group Forza Nuova conducted an evening patrol in the area, calling it a "walk for safety". A few tens of people participated in the demonstration, which the militants undertook despite the fact that it was prohibited by police, in a tense climate with the presence of police in riot gear. Among the slogans they chanted were: "We will free all the neighbourhoods of this city" and "Every reception centre will be a trench".Police issued citations to the demonstration's three organisers.
