At least 70 migrants were able to cross the fenced border surrounding Spain's North African enclave of Ceuta, which was stormed at dawn Tuesday by a total of over 200 people.
Out of the reported 67 migrants who crossed into Spanish territory, at least 15 were hospitalized for broken bones and deep cuts inflicted by blades along the border fence, Spanish Red Cross sources said on Twitter. Only four of them, who were of sub-Saharan origin, were able to enter Spanish territory in the area of Beni-Enzar, the main border crossing. One of them was arrested for wounding two police officers with bites and scratches, according to local prefecture sources. Protest breaks out in temporary migrant detention center Meanwhile at the temporary migrant detention center of Aluche, south of Madrid, some 100 migrants from Maghreb who were transferred from Algesiras (Andalusia) staged a revolt demanding not to be deported, according to police sources quoted by newspaper El Mundo. The protest broke out when migrants reportedly demolished doors and damaged objects, led to the intervention of national anti-riot police and a police unit of prevention and reaction. According to the sources, nobody was injured.
