Paolo Pellegrin, one of the most important photographers in the world, tells the story of migrant voyages in a photo exhibition opening April 30 at the new Ferdinando Museum of Fortifications and Frontiers in the Italian Aosta Valley town of Forte di Bard.
Pellegrin, considered one of the most important photojournalists in the world, has been a member of the Magnum photographer cooperative since 2001. He works with the most well-known international publications and has received numerous recognitions for his work, including 10 World Press Photo awards and the Robert Capa Gold Medal. The photos on display are in black and white, which gives them a distinct visual and emotional impact. They were taken in 2015, and the majority of them depict the situation on the Greek island of Lesbos. "The show integrates and makes current the contents of the new Museum of Frontiers, highlighting the tragic tale of the current migratory situation, which has become a distinguishing trait of our times. This is a situation that the International Organization for Migration says won't stop before 2050," said a statement from the museum regarding the show.
