This is a picture of the "Gran Ghetto," a migrant shantytown in the countryside between the towns of San Severo and Rignano Garganico in the province of Foggia in southeastern Italy.
The wood and cardboard constructions had been used by numerous migrants working on farms around the area. Security officials, members of the Italian military police or carabinieri and firemen cleared the area earlier this week after an investigation that began in March 2016 after reports of possible criminal infiltration.
