A project called Labour Integration for Migrants Employment (LIME) has opened the application process to select 50 migrant asylum seekers, international protection holders, or previously unaccompanied minors between the ages of 18 to 29 years old. The program will give the migrants a chance to enter the workforce in Rome and its province.
The non-profit organization CIES has opened the application process to select 50 migrants to participate in its Labour Integration for Migrant Employment (LIME) program. The project aims to promote workforce integration in Italy and Spain for young people aged 18-29 from third countries.
According to information on the Italian Interior Ministry's website under the "Migration Integration" section, partner organizations for the project in Italy, which include CIES, have begun selections for 50 migrants who will have the chance to participate in programs of paid internships and apprenticeships or to start a business.
Requirements for participation
On its website, CIES states that the young migrants in the project will participate in training cycles, co-planning of entrepreneurial ideas, and business and planning workshops. Participants will also take part in individual job counseling and mentoring sessions as well as a competencies assessment, Italian language courses at the L2 professional level, and apprenticeships.
The 50 participants must be asylum seekers or already possess political asylum or subsidiary protection or a permit to look for work (in the case of former unaccompanied minors). The candidates must possess a B1 level of Italian and live in Rome or the surrounding area.
The project will begin at the start of August 2019 and end by July 2020. To apply, candidates must send their curriculum vitae via email to lime@cies.it by August 15, 2019 (barring deadline extensions) indicating: Name, birth date, gender, Italian language level, country of origin, legal status (refugee, holder of subsidiary protection, asylum seeker, former unaccompanied minor). The project's methodology
The project is being financed with the Italian Interior Ministry's Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (FAMI). It uses a potentially reproducible methodology called Migrants Economic Integration Cluster (MEIC). The methodology is based on the creation of a group with partnerships from multiple socio-economic stakeholders, including public and private entities (socio-economic inclusion services, civil society organizations, chambers of commerce, institutions, local authorities, job offices, training services).
