The picture shows the latest rescue of migrants by the Libyan coast guard. On the morning of October 17, 119 migrants including 10 women and two children were rescued from a leaking rubber boat 30 miles north of Garrabulli east of Tripoli.
The migrants were of different African nationalities, Ayoub Qasem, the Navy's head of press and media said. "We were on a regular patrol west of Tripoli when we received a message from the Coast Guard Operations Room that there was an illegal immigration boat north of the Garrabulli area needing immediate assistance, the migrants were almost drowning. Two of them were found injured in the head. All of the migrants were rescued. Following the rescue operation, the migrants were sent to the Tripoli maritime base.They received medical and humanitarian assistance in the presence of the High Commission and the International Medical Corps and were handed over to the immigration detention center in Tajoura."
