Today's picture shows musicians from the Sumoud Guirab band as they perform in the streets of the Garbatella neighborhood.

The group, founded in 1989, is made up of 38 young Palestinians from the Burj Al-Shemali refugee camp in southern Lebanon.

The youths of "Guirab," which means "bagpipes" in Arabic, are in Italy from July 14 to 31 on a tour entitled "Bagpipes of Peace," organized in collaboration with several Italian associations.

"Contact with these youths conveys a sense that their daily lives are infused with a deep desire for rights and peace," said Olga Ambrosiano, head of the Ulaia Artesud association, one of the supporters of the initiative.

"The invitation to travel abroad gives an international side to their existence as musicians and Palestinians... It will give them the strength to cut a path for themselves in life despite having been born refugees," she added.
