A new service is set to open in the city of Palermo on the Italian island of Sicily. It aims to help migrants in applying for residence permits, entrance visas, citizenship, and family reunification.
A new office of the National Association Beyond the Borders (Associazione Nazionale Oltre le Frontiere, or ANOLF) is set to open in the city of Palermo on October 7. It will assist foreign nationals with the public administration and procedures for stay permits, entrance visas, citizenship, and family reunification, as well as helping them deal with the difficulties and problems they experience in their lives in the city.
The office will be inside the services headquarters of the local branch of the CISL trade union in via Villa Heloise 28. It will be inaugurated on October 7 at 4:30 p.m.
'We are committed to helping'
Taking part in the inauguration will be various officials from the local and regional offices of the CISL trade union and the head of ANOLF for the island. "It is not a coincidence that we decided to inaugurate the office in the same week as the Italian National Day in Remembrance of the Victims of Immigration," the head of the Palermo-Trapani branch of the trade union Leonardo La Piana said Sunday.
"For us it is a very important appointment to reiterate that a single governance of migration policies is needed as well as greater efforts concerning integration policies.
"Our commitment is to helping foreign nationals to request every procedure possible and useful for integration, reunifying with their family members, and everything that can serve to reiterate their right to citizenship. We will do this for free, thanks in part to the presence in the same place of services" for tax declarations and other official procedures.
The office on Via Villa Heloise 28 will be open after the October 7 inauguration every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning from 9 to 1 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling +32 95 420 168 or via email: anolfpalermo@gmail.com.
