The mosaic is made up of the individual works of those who participated in various workshops during recent weeks and the final product was presented in the museum's courtyard. "I'm happy; I learned many things and I was able to see things that I had never seen before," said Hope, a Nigerian woman who arrived in Italy five months ago. "It was a wonderful experience," she said. "It was the first time that I participated in this experience," said Aleandro, one of the migrants receiving Red Cross assistance in Rome."We got our hands dirty, some of us even got cut, but it was wonderful," he said. Art as a bridge About thirty of the migrants who are being housed in tent camps in the Monteverde neighbourhood of Rome participated in the workshop series, which began on March 21."It's a huge inclusion project, something different, that we hope will continue and grow through other collaborations with our guests," said Antonio Crialesi of the Red Cross in Rome."Projects like this are what we truly hope for when we speak of welcoming: discovering different cultures, using art as a bridge," he said. "This project is the result of the work of several institutions that had the hope and the will to overcome initial scepticism," said Maria Pia Guermandi, curator of the exhibition Archaeology&Me, the show within which the mosaic workshop was offered."This is an excellent result, and we hope that those who participated enjoyed it," Guermandi said."It's a little seed from which great things can grow," she said. The work will take part in an international mosaic competition titled "Pictor Imaginarius", to take place in the town of Nazzano, about an hour north of Rome, on May 27 and 28.(ANSAmed).
