This picture shows migrants in Quarto, in the province of Naples in Italy, where young Christians and Muslims will fast together on April 12 to call for peace in the Middle East.
The event is to take place in the Casa di Papa Francesco, which currently hosts 15 youngsters aged 14 to 23. These include unaccompanied foreign minors, young adult migrants and Italian former prisoners or youngsters serving an alternative sentence, who are taking part in tailor-made social inclusion programmes in a caring family environment. "Following the sad events of the last few days and the continuation of the war in Syria and Congo, and the terrorist attacks in many countries including Sweden, Nigeria and Egypt, the young people of Casa Papa Francesco have decided to spend a day fasting and praying to ask God for the gift of peace and show solidarity with those who are suffering as a result of violence and war," said Don Gennaro Pagano, priest and director of the diocesan educational centre Regina Pacis in Quarto. The day of fasting and prayer will be followed by Mass, while young Muslims will pray in the chapel at the same time.
