Today's picture shows two migrants seated on a bench in front of the port in Lampedusa while they wait to be transferred to other detention centers in Italy.
Only migrants sit on this bench during the day; the residents of Lampedusa use it only in the early morning hours or in the evening after the migrants have returned to the reception centre. It's a form of courtesy that the locals extend to the migrants without any formal agreement. (Photo by Elio Desiderio)
