A Libyan middle school student in Italy chose to tell the story of her life as a migrant for her end-of-the-year school project. Her family arrived in Baronissi, Italy, via the Italian asylum seekers and refugee protection system SPRAR.
Najat, a middle school student in Baronissi near Salerno, is the firstborn of a family of migrants that arrived in Baronissi through the Italian asylum seekers and refugee protection system (SPRAR) from Libya. The girl, who holds Libyan nationality, has recently earned her middle school diploma - and was the first to do so among the 51 people who have been living for the past two years in the facilities in the Valle dell'Irno city.
In her thesis, she told the story of her life as a migrant. She spoke about Libya from a historic, geographical, social, artistic and literary point of view and also highlighted the reception and solidarity she was shown in Italy.

At the end, she was given a round of applause by the commission and her classmates.
''I would like to thank all the volunteers who work with the families,'' Baronissi mayor Gianfranco Valiante said. ''They are precious resources of our community. From the very beginning, with the SPRAR project, we gave priority to real cultural and civil integration of our guests and today the goal of a middle school diploma for the young Najat compensates for all the work done.''
