Germany's transport minister says the government will not set a ceiling on the number of refugees it takes in escaping the war in Ukraine. Meanwhile, a survey showed most Germans were keen to help those who flee.

Fleeing the horrors of war, many of Ukraine's Jewish population have fled to Moldova. From there, the refugees are being picked up by Israeli aid organizations to be flown to safety in Tel Aviv.

German leaders recently agreed on a €2 billion package helping states accommodate and integrate Ukrainian refugees fleeing Russia's war. But money is not the only problem.

The ISMU foundation reports that over 56,000 people requested asylum in Italy in 2021, more than double the number seen in 2020, when there was a sharp decrease due to the COVID pandemic.
