Over the past year, nearly 6,000 Afghan nationals were granted international protection in Italy. Meanwhile, roughly 150,000 Ukrainians have been granted protection.
The Danish government has announced that it will take 200 refugees from Rwanda under a resettlement quota scheme. But the door remains firmly closed to asylum seekers.
The British government was reportedly warned, several times, by its own advisers that sending asylum seekers to Rwanda might not be a sensible policy.
