Three alleged smugglers apprehended in Catania

Italian police stopped and apprehended three Egyptian nationals in Catania, Sicily, on charges of smuggling a boat with 285 migrants on board which arrived in Italy on 31 August.

142 migrants detained in North Macedonia near Greek border

North Macedonian authorities have reportedly detained a group of 142 migrants after they entered the country irregularly from Greece. The number of migrants trying to reach the EU via the Balkan route has been on the rise lately.

Five arrested for smuggling migrants in Europe via private jet

Five alleged smugglers have been arrested in Rome and Brussels for their role in bringing migrants from Turkey to Europe on private jets. Two others are reported to still be on the run.

Aegean: Several children reported to have drowned in alleged pushback event

Five children and a woman have reportedly drowned in the Aegean Sea, while five people remain missing. Turkish authorities have accused Greek officials of pushing the migrants back towards Turkey.
