Italy's central and regional governments could finally reach an agreement after the interior ministry presented new guidelines in changes to the way that migrants are hosted.
The migrant rescue ship Ocean Viking has saved a total of 153 people in distress off the coast of Malta. After several rescues, it has been assigned the Italian port of Civitavecchia to disembark the rescuees.
The Danish government says it plans to tighten the country’s citizenship rules. Already, nearly half of candidates have their applications rejected.
Police has arrested 17 people in several Italian cities. They are accused of smuggling migrants from sub-Saharan Africa and Libya through Italy to other European countries, mostly France, for over €1,000 per person.
Migration authorities in the Netherlands cannot hand over asylum seekers to Italy even if they entered Europe via that country, a court has ruled.
