France's Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin called for a treaty on migration between the EU and Britain Tuesday, after 12 migrants died trying to cross the Channel in the worst such incident this year. 

More than 300 officers were deployed across five states, with the focal point the eastern city of Jena and state of Thuringia. Police said five arrests were made in Wednesday's raids, as part of a larger case.

Hungary has accused the European Union of refusing financial assistance to help the country manage migration and announced an appeal. However, Brussels has responded by noting that Hungary received double the funding in the 2021-2021
