Several thousand people have taken part in demonstrations across Germany in support of Afghan nationals who are being obliged to return home after their asylum requests failed. Nearly 12,000 have been asked to leave.
Cédric Herrou, a French farmer renowned for helping migrants slip into the country, said Friday he would continue to assist those in need as a court handed him a suspended fine of 3,000 euros ($3,200).
Budapest has said all migrants will be sent to detention centers while their asylum applications are pending. Prime Minister Orban admitted that this puts his country is in "open conflict" with the European Union.
