Authorities are attempting to counter the Boko Haram insurgency by offering an allowance to parents who send their children to school. It comes amid reports some familes are 'donating' their daughters to the insurgency.

A German rescue organization has been sent to assist a vessel operated by a group of anti-immigration Identitarians in the Mediterranean Sea. When the NGO arrived, however, the other ship refused assistance.

German aid group Sea-Eye has announced it will suspend migrant rescue operations in the Mediterranean. The announcement comes a day after Doctors Without Borders (MSF) took a similar decision citing security concerns.

Doctors Without Borders says "hostility" from Libya has forced it to suspend offshore rescues of boat migrants by its ship, Prudence. Libya recently told non-governmental groups to stay away.
