The status of Syrians seeking asylum in Germany will not change, the government says. There had been fears that Syrians would have their claims rejected following a review of the security situation which the authorities kept secret.
Slovenian authorities over the last few days have stopped dozens of undocumented migrants who were trying to cross the border from Croatia, police said. Most of the foreigners were Afghan citizens.
The Maltese authorities say that they deport about 40 foreigners per month considered irregular migrants. Many of them are foreigners who were granted asylum in Italy and traveled to the island to seek work.

A ship operated by the German rescue charity Sea Watch rescued more than 60 migrants near Libya. Italy's far-right interior minister said he doesn't want them "getting near Italian territorial waters."
