The charity ship Alan Kurdi reached a rubber boat carrying 32 migrants, ahead of an impending storm on the Mediterranean. According to the Sea-Eye rescue group, they all said they were Libyan citizens.
Seven migrants were killed in eastern Turkey after their boat sank in Lake Van, according to the official Anadolu news agency. Turkish authorities meanwhile said that they rescued 64 people.
Two asylum seekers in northern Greece have committed suicide. The two men, an Afghan and an Iraqi national, were found in the village of Mouries near the Greek border with North Macedonia.
In a statement, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) said migrants and refugees in Libya "continue to be routinely subjected to violation and abuses.
Several German state governments have said they would be prepared to take in refugee children from Greece. One state, Thuringia, has even suggested it would do so in the face of the refusal in Berlin.
