Authorities in Mauritania say they intercepted a boat carrying 161 migrants bound for Europe after it set off from The Gambia. Close to 1,000 people have now been rescued along the West African coast since last week.

Police in the Netherlands have launched investigations into a fire at a future asylum reception center in the southern Brabant province. Authorities believe that it could likely be a case of arson amid a series of similar attacks.

At least 58 people, including several children, were found locked inside a truck in Paris earlier in the week. The discovery came right after another group of migrants was saved from the back of another vehicle.

The unrest comes one month after a mass influx of migrants from Morocco to the Spanish exclave in North Africa.
